Marshall University Division – New Mexico Bowl Win Over CSU Rams

Marshall University Division one football team defeated the Colorado State University Rams 31-28. This game was played December sixteen two thousand seventeen at University Stadium in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This game was quite competitive until the very end.

I was able to watch most of the second half of this Football Bowl Subdivision bowl game. Marshall University Thundering Herd was able to hold off the Colorado State University Rams. Marshall University created a 17 point lead going into the fourth quarter.

Two fourth quarter touchdowns was not enough for Colorado State Universtiy. Marshall University improved to 8-5 on the 2017 college football season with this victory. Meanwhile the Colorado State University Rams dropped to 7-6.

I was glad that this game was competitive and not a proverbial college football bowl game blow out. Colorado State University actually had a chance of taking the lead or tying the game with less than a minute left. Marshall University sacked Colorado State University’s starting quarterback 5 times.

Colorado State University had trouble stopping Marshall University’s rushing game. As a matter of fact Marshall University had two one hundred yard rushers in this game. Also, this team rushed for 239 yards on 33 carries.

Colorado State University rushed for a measly 70 yards on 31 carries in comparison. Colorado State University made up for it a litle bit by passing for 320 yards in comparison to Marshall Unviersity’s 262 yards passing. Marshall University committed two turnovers compared to none for Colorado State University.

Colorado State University was still outgained 501 yards to 390 yards of total offense. Marshall University, whom plays in Conference USA has an 11-2 record lifetime in bowl games. Colorado State University has a 6-11 record in bowl games.

The Colorado State University Rams play in the Mountain West Conference. The difference at least to me in this game, was the pressure that Marshall University was able to apply on Colorado State University’s starting quarterback.
